Every January in San Francisco, J.P. Morgan brings together biotech and pharmaceutical leaders for its annual Healthcare Conference, one of the premier networking events for the industry. In addition to the main event, “JPM Week” features hundreds of networking events, conferences, and presentations—and in addition to formal partnering, the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) has collaborated with Novateur Ventures, a leading global life sciences advisory company to create the JPM Week Event Guide mobile app.
Developed by Novateur Ventures and co-managed by BIO, the 2024 JPM events app is a user-friendly, sustainable alternative to the printed event guides used in the past.
“We believe that your Network is your Net worth,” Novateur Managing Director Ali Ardakani told Bio.News.
“Prior to launching this app, most folks had to rely on their current connections or just a random chance to find relevant networking events to attend. We have created an easily accessible and reliable repository to find most networking events at JPM,” explained Ardakani. “It was important for me to develop an app that allowed life science professionals to make important industry connections because, over my career, some of the most transformational relationships I have developed are the direct result of industry networking events.”
How the 2024 JPM events guide app works
First launched in 2020, the app listed hundreds of events submitted by participants, organized by day. The app allows users to search and filter events and includes maps and directions for improved navigation.
“There are hundreds of networking events, conferences, and presentations happening all over San Francisco during JPM Week, and the information about these opportunities is largely dispersed,” said BIO VP Mackensie Vernetti. “Guide to JPM‘24 brings all of that important data all in one place, and in a convenient mobile app that greatly simplifies of-the-moment navigation.”
The free app is available for download from the Apple App Store or Google Play for Android.
The 2024 app features several upgrades from past years, including improvements to the overall user experience like an updated search functionality, as well as a safety section providing links and tips for a safer experience at JPM Week.
One of the most notable upgrades is the event-sharing feature allowing users to send events they are interested in, to colleagues, thus improving their coordination at JPM Week.
“Last year almost 3,500 attendees from 41 countries downloaded the app on both iOS and Android platforms. We hope to reach 6,000 downloads this year,” noted Ardakani.

BIO leads partnering at JPM 2024
In addition to launching the Events Guide, BIO continues to offer BIO Partnering @JPM Week. Since 2017, the BIO One-on-One Partnering™ system has been used to help the industry more efficiently and effectively identify partners and arrange meetings regardless of what events they attend. “We’re expecting over 6,000 meetings to be scheduled through BIO One-on-One Partnering™ for JPM Week, and we’ve added more than 40% more meeting tables at our space in the San Francisco Marriott Marquis to help meet that demand,” Vernetti concluded.
