Meet us in Miami for the BIO Investment and Growth Summit

The inaugural Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) Investment and Growth (BIG) Summit kicks off on March 2, 2025, and will convene industry leaders in sunny Miami Beach to address the most pressing issues facing the biotech industry today, from navigating the financial landscape for life sciences to tackling the ever-changing regulatory and policy challenges that affect biotech companies of all sizes.

“Biotechnology advancement depends on great science, tremendous dedication, and strong relationships,” said BIO President & CEO, John F. Crowley. “One of BIO’s many roles is to serve as an industry-wide facilitator that helps leaders gain knowledge and create relationships that lead to game-changing innovations. The inaugural BIO Investment and Growth Summit comes as our industry faces unique challenges and opportunities, making the event’s new approach to bringing our industry together both timely and advantageous.”

The event is an opportunity for industry leaders to create an innovative environment to improve 21st Century access and affordability through collaboration, with the goal of putting patients first and improving long-term affordability—and Bio.news will be on the ground at the event capturing all of the updates.

Here are the three themes Bio.news is watching as we ramp up to the event.

Driving capital formation and investment

In the years after COVID, the biotech investment landscape has been in unique flux. That is why it is even more important to make sure that startups and early-stage biotechs, investors, established CEOs, and industry leaders from across the financial, innovation, and political landscape are all convened in the same place—so the industry can continue to break new ground on the best drugs and treatments for patients today and tomorrow.

As such, the event will offer a number of networking opportunities, as well as informative panels, so that participants can not only connect with a powerful industry network for future partnership, but also garner the insider insights into how to navigate the years ahead. Here are a few panels to watch out for are:

Strengthening our innovation ecosystem and competitive edge

There have been a myriad of changes to the biotech industry in the last five years. And for companies to stay competitive they have to stay informed, but they also have to stay engaged.

One element of that engagement is maintaining and improving regulator-industry partnerships by improving biomanufacturing supply chains—reducing the time, cost and complexity of early drug development.

But the other side of that coin is having a seat at the table and working directly with regulators to help them understand the ins and outs of the research and development pipeline. The biotech industry has been a committed partner to government regulators and policy makers since its inception 50 years ago—playing a major role in securing FDA predictability and efficiency and modernizing trade agreements to strengthen our national security.

Here are a couple panels to watch out for are:

Connecting through BIO Partnering™

The backbone of any BIO event is BIO Partnering™, which has enabled the biotech and pharma industry to efficiently connect one-on-one and explore what partnership will get their products to the next level and in the hands of patients.

“In today’s capital environment, precision in partnering matters,” says Mackensie Vernetti, Senior Vice President of Partnering at BIO. “Through the BIO Partnering system we convene investors and innovators in a purpose-built platform that sharpens signal, streamlines connection and accelerates the strategic collaborations that move treatments and cures forward.”

And the new BIO Partnering system is better than ever, with the upgraded system making it easy to search for and identify potential partners and request meetings with prospective biotech investors and senior business development executives. With BIO Partnering™ companies can go faster and farther together.

“No company advances alone,” concludes Vernetti. “The most successful biotechs are built on strategic partnerships, whether for licensing, financing or commercialization. Convening leaders across the investment and biotech industry here in Miami Beach and through BIO Partnering creates the density of opportunity that drives real deal flow.”
